Feb 25, 2012 – We left Lusaka to Chipata, Zambia, the scenery was nice, but it took us about 6 hours. Stephanie (a VSO volunteer who is based in Mambwe), her co-worker, my co-worker and I car pooled together to Chipata. Chipata was on the way to Mambwe and my house had her fridge/cooker, so I got dropped off and she continued another 2 hours to Mambwe. Here are pics of the road trip:

Bathroom at the “Service station”, I had to pay 1000 Kwacha ($0.2 CAD) to use it. But I couldn’t even go in as it was full of flies and smelled horrible, so I peed on the ground outside and still had to pay!

In Chipata, during the Ncwala festival. It’s to celebrate the first fruit of the season, where the Ngoni chief ceremonially tastes the fruit of the land, then spears a bull and drinks its blood. Everyone is dressed with animal skin.

Just catching up on your blogs, Mohammad.
Loved the color scheme at the Yotel. That’s the size of my condo in Vancouver.
I’m up to your get together at the High Commisioners house. Now that looks like a setting for mischief.
Keep the postigs coming. This is better than a LeCare novel.
Best Regards,
John
